Interview starts at 59:30
Dr. Shirley Cheechoo C.M, Residential School Warrior joins us
to chat about the 20th anniversary of the Weengushk Film Institute.
We chat about how the Film institute has helped the indigenous
community learn many skills, empowering young people, and how
important the arts are for communicating issues in our
culture.
She was in 4 different residential schools so we chat about
that and the mass graves, blocking voices, the white audience,
drugs and alcohol, the Indian Act, the indigenous government, the
process of reconciliation and the apologies from our
“officials”.
In the intro we cover our latest Elk hunting trip on a CFB
military base.
